General Meeting: Alcids — Enigmatic, Enchanting, Inspiring

Join Steve and Martha Ellis for a general meeting program highlighting the mysterious puffin family.

Birds in this particular grouping have many abilities and physiological features that set them apart from other seabirds. For instance, alcids are the only birds that routinely spread their wings when diving beneath the sea.

SSGN 2025 End of Season Celebration

Included will be a new slideshow presentation of PIGU bluffs across the regions and 2025 survey memories.

Dave Krause will present the highly anticipated summary of our data for the season.

We will have presentations by special guests Erin Arzola-Davis and Dr. Sarah Converse. Erin is a student of Sarah’s at the University of Washington. She is also a previous intern and surveyor of PIGU in the South Sound! She’s been analyzing a piece of our data and will share her findings.

Sarah Converse will add the latest findings of her study of PIGUs on Protection Island.

Pigeon Guillemot Appreciation Day

A family-friendly, Informal gathering to learn more about the guillemot research project, slideshow of local pigeon guillemots, make your own red felt feet and guillemot themed appetizers. Special glass pours.

We've been celebrating these little birds for 22 years. 
Join us to learn more.  We monitor Pigeon Guillemot breeding colonies across the region to better understand their population dynamics and role in healthy coastal ecosystems.

Malheur Wildlife Refuge

Trip leader Dave Parent has over 30 years of experience birding in Southeast Oregon. Join him on a camp out to one of the most amazing birding areas in North America. “We will bird the expansive Malheur Refuge, fields, the Pueblo Mountains, and possibly other hotspots. We hope to be onsite as the spring migration is in full swing and nesting birds are arriving from the south. One hundred species in the first two days is not unrealistic!” Headquarters is Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Page Springs Campground, first come first served—no reservations. Annual Membership Meeting, plus A Riot of Color: Costa Rican Birds

This is our annual membership meeting to elect new board members and discuss relevant business with Whidbey Audubon Society members. We’ll sweeten the meeting with an ice cream social.

This February a number of Whidbey Audubon members traveled to Costa Rica and had a wonderful experience seeing birds and other natural wonders. Following a business meeting they will present an illustrated program.
