Whidbey Audubon Board Election Results
By Susan Prescott, Volunteer committee
A sea of hands rose when outgoing Vice President Linda Griesbach called for a vote to elect Linda Rhodes as the next Vice President at the May 14 Annual Membership Meeting. Linda Rhodes joined the board last spring and has been active planning the monthly programs for general meetings. She joined the Conservation Committee, engaging WAS in the Mussel Watch Contaminant Monitoring Program at Deer Lagoon. This spring, she stepped up to cofacilitate the Bird Specimen Collection with Robin Llewellyn. Her background was published in the May 2026 Shorelines. She was interviewed as a new board member, "Getting to Know Your Board“ by past editor Sharon Heiber for the January 2026 Shorelines.
Congratulations, Linda! She welcomes others to join the board, especially someone inspired to serve as President.
Other Board Matters
The board is looking for other cabinet and committee members. Conservation Cabinet and Committee Chair Jackie Lasater has resigned from that position after serving over two years. She brought experience, passion and inspiration to the role. Thank you, Jackie.
We now have cochairs of the Membership Committee. Judy Kaplan has joined the committee with Michelle Munro. You can count on Judy’s smile and talent for engagement at events and meetings. Michelle will continue to manage the database and remind you when your annual dues are to be renewed.
Both the Education and the Program Committees need leaders and members.
Please ask for more information and consider joining our team of leaders to make Whidbey Audubon shine. You’ll meet the most interesting people when you get involved. Please volunteer or contact us on the volunteer page of our website.
Note: Whidbey Audubon Society takes a summer hiatus July, August and another in December to just enjoy birds and their habitat. Many activities such as Birding in Neighborhoods and field trips happen throughout the summer (check the events calendar). There are no general meetings and programs or Shorelines during those months. Have a great summer!
