Flocks of Fun: Meet the Birdathon 2025 Teams!

By Dominique Emerson

Birdathon is an annual opportunity to support Whidbey Audubon, collect data about bird species, and have fun with fellow birders!

This year, six teams are gathering pledges from friends and family members and recording the species of birds they see during a 24-hour period in early May. The funds they raise will support Whidbey Audubon’s scholarship program and the general fund.

We are excited to introduce this year’s Birdathon teams:

  • No Egrets: Louie Shellenberger, Patricia Duarte and Janet Jernigan

  • Wild Women of Whidbey: Frances Wood, Ann Casey, Linda Bainbridge, Marilyn Strayer

  • Wingin’ It: Sarah Schmidt, Janet Hall, Dyanne Sheldon, Libby Hayward, Ann Linnea

  • Shore Thing: Cathi Bower, Kathy Obersinner, Patty Cheek

  • The Coupevillains: Sandy Shields, Steve Ellis and Martha Ellis

  • Raven for More: Madrone Ruggiero, Steve Ellis and Martha Ellis

Note: All for Knot dropped out of the competition due to personal matters for several team members.
