Election of New Board Officers at May Membership Meeting

By Linda Griesbach, Vice President

Elections will be held at the May 8 membership meeting to fill the executive officer positions of secretary and treasurer. Both positions are for two-year terms. We are exceptionally fortunate to have two strong candidates who have agreed to run for these positions.

Tiffany Kelly is running for the position of secretary.

Tiffany spent all of her life in Snohomish County until moving to Whidbey Island in 2023, fulfilling a lifelong desire to become an island resident. For her day job, she works as an executive assistant for the Snohomish County Executive Office. She has also served as a volunteer secretary for several community organizations. Her spare time is generally spent outdoors enjoying activities such as gardening, walking her dogs on beaches and in parks, bird and nature watching and riding her motorcycle (when the weather allows). In the winter she can usually be found under a cat with her knitting needles or crochet hook. Tiffany is just about to complete the Birds of Whidbey class series and is excited to put her newfound knowledge to use enjoying the island's birds.

Dave Venard is running for the position of treasurer.

Dave has been a member of Whidbey Audubon since 2022, when he and his wife moved to the island, and has been a member of other Audubon chapters since 2015. With his retirement, Dave feels he has the time available to devote to the position of treasurer.

Dave’s educational background in accounting and organizational behavior, as well as his professional background as a CPA and enrolled agent, will also serve Whidbey Audubon in this position. He has been a manager or tax preparer with Intuit for 14 years and before that worked at Ernst & Young and owned his own companies, providing him with the experience in financial accounting and management necessary for this position. In addition, he has always been active in a variety of not-for-profit organizations throughout his life, serving in various roles, including director, president, treasurer and chairman of a finance committee. He had a passion for their missions and a desire to give back to his communities. Dave looks forward to being able to do the same for Whidbey Audubon.

Please arrive at 7:00 p.m. for this meeting so that election of officers can take place once a quorum is assembled.  After that, we will enjoy our ice cream social and monthly program presentation.
