Island Conversations with Whidbey Climate ACTION

Langley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall - 301 Anthes Ave.

Snacks at 5:45 PM, Program from 6 PM to 8 PM

WHIDBEY ISLAND IS ALIVE WITH NATURE-BASED CLIMATE SOLUTIONS! Every tree, every plant is an air conditioner. Every critter offers its life back to soil and sea. The capacity of our PNW temperate rainforest to sequester carbon and stabilize the climate is enormous.

According to WCA’s April presenter, Michael Pilarski, the best and fastest way to heal our planet is what we can do ourselves: regenerate our soil, plants, water cycles, and creatures — and we know how. Michael is a "plant geek" committed to spreading knowledge of projects working successfully to restore Planet Earth.

Our recent Island Conversations have focused on the resilience of our island, honoring the seeds that have been sown, the organizations and individuals doing the work. Last month we placed ourselves in our bioregion, zooming in on our most-loved places, and naming our working circles that protect these places. This month, Michael will inspire us to "Green the earth to cool the Earth!" And we'll get a sneak peek at the upcoming Global Earth Repair Convergence in Port Townsend, May 7 –11.
