Calling all bird photographers—and all those who enjoy looking at bird photographs! At this last general membership meeting of the season, we invite people to bring their favorite bird photos to share. Any photos of avian species are welcome, whether taken locally or at some exotic or foreign locale. Photos should be on a flash or thumb drive. Those who wish to share photos will be asked to sign in upon arrival. The amount of time allotted to each photographer for sharing will depend on the number of people who sign up.
Prior to our photo viewing, we will be announcing the recipients of the annual Renee Smith Scholarships for Environmental Studies. Three well-deserving local high school seniors are receiving scholarships this year.
Also being announced will be the winner of the coveted Golden Binoculars Award which is presented to the team which counted the greatest number of species during May’s Birdathon. All teams did an impressive job this year, but just which team came out on top?
Volunteers are needed to bring sweet or savory snacks and help set up the room. Please go to the Whidbey Audubon website volunteer page. In the left-hand column, fill in your name and contact information, select the box “Events, Field Trips and Tabling” and describe what you can bring or do in the comment section. Then click on “Submit.” Thank you.
The next general membership meeting is September 11 at the Coupeville Recreation Hall. We welcome volunteers to join the program committee to plan our presentations.
Have a wonderful summer of birding!
