Whidbey Audubon Society Named the Official Adopt-a-Park Steward for Deer Lagoon Preserve
By Linda Rhodes
By becoming Adopt-a-Park stewards for Deer Lagoon Preserve, Whidbey Audubon is demonstrating its commitment to conserving the quality of this refuge for birds, wildlife, and people, and positions us to be a leader in enhancing the experience for wildlife and human visitors to this refuge.
In addition to continuing the volunteer tradition of maintaining the paths of Deer Lagoon Preserve, this program can contribute to better user awareness through education and engagement.
How to volunteer as an Adopt-a-Park steward
Register with Island County. Submit this one-time registration form.
Notify the Whidbey Audubon coordinator when you are planning an event. Have your team leader email the Whidbey Audubon's Adopt-a-Park coordinator including the date and planned activity (e.g., trash collection, weed removal).
Report your event when it is completed. Have your team leader send an email to the Whidbey Audubon's Adopt-a-Park coordinator including the date, the names of the participants, and the hours worked.
Your volunteer hours are reported to Island County by the program coordinator and helps to maintain our Adopt-a-Park status.
