South Whidbey Christmas Bird Count

The South Whidbey Christmas Bird Count (CBC) will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, with an alternate day of Monday, January 5, 2026.

We need:
Team leaders! We have sections that are open for team leaders.
Feeder watchers! See the feeder watcher instructions on the Whidbey Audubon website.
Waterfront property. We are looking to set up our scopes to get a good sweep of North Saratoga Passage. Whidbey Shores/ Belle’s Beach is a particular area that we need.
Intermediate birders who know most birds.
There is some room for beginning birders; this will be on a first come basis; the sooner you sign up the more likely you will be in a team.
Bathrooms! Do you live within the circle and can offer your bathroom? (See circle descriptions on the CBC page of this site.)
And finally, would you like to contribute some food? Chips, cookies, a mean banana bread? Nicole Luce is organizing food, and contact her if you would like to bring some food. Why the CBC?
The Christmas Bird Count is the longest and largest running community science project in the world. The data collected is open to everybody and provides information for research, planning, and conservation.
